Public sector

A range of public sector organisations are now actively addressing past pay inequalities. A number of sectoral agreements on pay transparency and equity have been reached between local government, health service and higher education employers and these are currently at various stages of implementation.

Close the Gap have been providing support to colleges and universities across Scotland on the equal pay obligations under the Gender Equality Duty. This has included training and guidance on conducting equal pay reviews and producing a robust equal pay statement.

In partnership with Scotland's Colleges we have produced an excellent resource specific to the college sector, Equal Pay Reviews and Job Evaluation: Guidance for Scotland's Colleges.

Close the Gap can provide free confidential support and assistance to public sector employers in carrying out pay reviews. We can also work with your organisation to identify ways in which you can address any barriers to women’s progression.
